Fired mayor elected as candidate
MORGENZON - The ANC has once again proven that it does not take the interest of the public seriously after electing Queen Radebe-Khumalo as a candidate for the upcoming local government elections. Radebe-Khumalo was fired in2009 as mayor of Lekwa Local Municipality after she was accused of compromising service delivery, maladministration of funds, and failure to fulfil her duties.
She also caused the municipality R520 000 in legal fees after she lost a court case in 2009 for unlawfully ordering the destruction of a Voortrekker Great Trek Memorial table, contravening the National Heritage Resources Act. The ANC is clearly costing the municipality a lot of money and this will continue under their leadership if returned to power.
Electing a person of such a calibre to be a candidate councillor is an injustice to the community that she is supposed to serve. This shows that the ANC has no intention of tackling issues of service delivery, maladministration, and corruption. The people of Morgenzon need a reliable ward councillor without any bad records of mismanagement of funds and poor service delivery.
Given her history as mayor of Lekwa, the question is: what is Radebe-Khumalo bringing that will change the lives of the people of ward 14? The DA urges people of Morgenzon to vote for change on 3 August. Change that will cut corruption, improve service delivery and create jobs.
This will improve their lives for the better.
They must go out and vote for a government that will prioritise their need for jobs, shelter, quality education, and standing up against corruption and maladministration of funds. (Written by Councillor Muso Kubheka.)
