Investment compromised in Morgenzon due to poor roads

MORGENZON - The DA will write to the Mayor of Lekwa Local Municipality, Councillor Linda Dlamini, to immediately fulfil his legal obligations to the residents of Morgenzon by repairing the crumbling roads.

The continuous decline in slow service delivery by the municipality has resulted in road deficiencies across the town which is littered with potholes of every shape and size. Maintaining and upgrading our municipal road network is important to all residents, as it forms the backbone of our transport infrastructure.

A modern road network is not only important for economic growth and development but is used by thousands of ordinary residents to travel to work and school on a daily basis. For years, the residents of Morgenzon have complained as they have had to zigzag the streets of the town to avoid being caught up in one of the potholes, yet nothing has been done to this day.

The municipality rather keeps filling the holes with gravel which only lasts for two days, instead of finding a permanent solution to the problem. Once again, it is the poorer communities that are suffering disproportionally as a result of the ANC’s mismanagement and service delivery failures.

The Municipality has failed the residents of Morgenzon. The DA will continue to monitor this situation to ensure improvement of the lives of all residents and with roads that they deserve. Questions forwarded to the communications manager of Lekwa were not answered at print.

Even heavy motor vehicles are damaged when making use of this section of road. This is at the main junction to Ermelo, Standerton and Amersfoort and some vehicles have started using alternative routes through town, causing damage to the gravel roads and a severe case of dust pollution.
