Corruption killed an innocent young boy
The hands of all Lekwa Councillors past and present are dripping with blood; the death of the young man could have been avoided if councillors knew what they have been elected to do.
The issue of R21 million is not new, the past councillors turned a blind eye and what infuriates me most is that the opposition parties, especially the Civic Voice, this was their campaign card before elections and in the words of Mr Selepe he said: “We are glad Standerton prison is being extended to take in those found to be involved in this corruption,” all and sundry vowed to root out corruption. When SANCO recently opened the case against the Municipal Manager, Mr Linda Tshabalala, the most sensible thing that should have happened was to put the Municipal Manager on precautionary suspension or special leave and institute a forensic investigation into the financial affairs of the municipality.
The premier, DD Mabuza, is also responsible for this corruption in Lekwa and several municipalities in Mpumalanga and the previous MEC for COGTA warned councillors about the non-performance of the municipal manager Mr Linda Tshabalala, but councillors did nothing to that effect and the main beneficiaries of this corruption are campaigning for his reemployment.
I was shocked that Lekwa now owes
Eskom billions yet there’s always a budget to employ their comrades and previous councillors but not to pay Eskom and fixing our roads, electricity and water challenges throughout Lekwa. Without doubt all councillors have been captured and money has zipped their mouths, what the municipal manager and all people who are corrupt always forget is that there’s always a limit to which the cow can produce the milk that you desperately want and when it has reached this point if you force it, only blood will come out instead of milk and this is what is happening with this cow (Lekwa Municipality). You have milked it beyond what it can produce and it produced blood in the form of the late Yandisa Marongo whose death is still a mystery and recently the young innocent life.
Opposition parties should stop hiding their mediocrity behind the fact that they don’t have sufficient numbers in the chamber; you don’t need numbers to go directly to the office of the Public Protector or Hawks to open a case. So to all the councillors including DD Mabuza, when the coffin of this innocent life is lowered on Saturday, remember it’s not the police or anyone who killed that boy but it’s you councillors because you failed to hold the Municipal Manager accountable and history will judge you harshly.
